Ansel Adams was one of the most well known American photographers ever. He is most known for his beautiful black and white works. As a child, he had a rough time fitting in and had troubles in his various public schools due to his hyperactivity resulting in his parents sending him to a privet school. Before he picked up the camera, he was a piano player for many years. Soon he began taking pictures for a living and in 1927, he took the picture that would make him famous forever. The Face of Dome Bowl was.. ...Abby?....Abby?!... what's the word for the greatest thing you've ever done?... Magnum opus? It was his magnum opus. I popularity rose drastically in the 1930's mainly due to his abundance of energy and work at the time. Since he was a young boy, he had a love of nature and the wilderness. This resulted in Ansel becoming an activist in the protection of wildlife. His love of nature also resulted in numerous pictures taken of the grand canyon. He die April 22, 1984 of heart failure leaving behind a wife and two kids and on of the greatest photography legacies. The picture above is one of his works that I found interesting for two reasons. Mainly because it looks like a scene from Star Trek and I'm a sucker for that. Also because I love how the light seeps through the clouds onto the dark and hard rocks creating a fun contrast.
